Imagine our delight upon discovering ripe wild blackberries while we were visiting Mount Shasta City, CA. What a wonderful unexpected surprise! I love picking fresh fruit, and it’s been awhile since we’ve had the opportunity.

We ate a lot of blackberries, and we put about a cup and a half in a bag. By the time we got back to the campsite, the berries in the bag were kind of smooshed, so we decided to make them into jam.

This camping jam was one of the highlights of our trip. We had so much fun gathering blackberries together. Despite the substituted ingredients, the jam turned out really delicious!
I love blackberries, but they do tend to get mushy fast! Blackberry jam sounds delicious. I love it on sourdough toast! I’ve never made jam. Maybe someday I will. What a fun experience!

It was so much fun!
My dad recently started making his own sourdough bread and starter. Have you ever tried making sourdough?

What a great way to use smooshed blackberries and make it into jam!!I’d be so excited too to find wild blackberries. Hope you didn’t get many scratches while picking them…the thorns on those bushes are fierce.
BTW, maybe it’s my computer, but I don’t see your pictures in the middle of the post. Some are visible and nothing else except for the text. It’s for this one and the hot air balloon one.
