Our end-of-summer glamping vacation was Thursday to Tuesday at Marina Dunes RV Resort.
Our tween/teens picked bucket list items to do on our vacation: disc golf course (B age 12), something related to cars (S age 16), and Moss Landing State Beach (K age almost 14). My bucket list items were breakfast at First Awakenings, sandwiches at Bruno’s deli, and Carmel Beach. My husband wasn’t sure what he wanted to do, but he put the climbing gym on the schedule for next year!
I had to drop my plan to hike at Point Lobos for a special event at Asilomar (antique car rides) and my husband ended up not bringing our bikes on this trip. No matter how long we spend on the Monterey Bay Peninsula, it never seems to be long enough!
On Thursday we arrived at Marina Dunes RV Resort and set up camp. Then we walked to Marina State Beach for the sunset.
On Friday morning we went out to breakfast at First Awakenings and looked in 2 thrift stores.
My father-in-law and his wife joined us from Friday lunch until Saturday breakfast. We had lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings, visited a special car exhibit at the Stanton Center, walked along Old Fisherman’s Wharf and watched the sea lions, and enjoyed teppanyaki Japanese food at Sapporo for dinner. Next day, we ate a continental breakfast in the morning before they headed back home.
On Saturday after breakfast, we visited Asilomar State Park and were delighted with free antique car rides! So much fun!
We found an El Salvadoran restaurant for lunch and after lunch the boys went to California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) to play disc golf while K and I went back to Marina State Beach and hiked an approximately 1.5 mile loop from our campsite.
On Sunday we slept in and ate breakfast at the campsite. We drove to Old Fisherman’s Wharf and rented a surrey for an hour long ride along the paved, multi-use Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail. We’ve always thought about doing this activity and the time finally came to try it out. It was really fun!
Next, we headed to get sandwiches and caramels at Bruno’s Deli and had a picnic at Caramel-by-the-Sea. We met up with dear friends that we haven’t seen in 10 years and we hung out with them all afternoon. We headed back to the campsite for hot dogs and they headed home.
On Monday we visited Moss Landing State Beach before meeting fellow blogger, Sing Like Wildflowers in real life! I’ll write a whole separate post about this amazing and exciting afternoon in Santa Cruz, CA!
On Tuesday we drove back home! We have out of state guests arriving Thursday so wish us luck getting groceries and cleaning the house real quick!
