Homeschool 8th Grade Graduation 2026

When our oldest son graduated from 8th grade we planned a special glamping trip to celebrate – Homeschool 8th Grade Graduation Celebration.

Our middle daughter graduated from 8th grade this year so we planned another glamping trip with friends. Unfortunately, they came down with hand-foot-and-mouth disease right before the trip so they had to stay home. We were all really disappointed.

We had to rally and come up with some ideas to make the trip extra fun since it was just our family sans friends all of a sudden. I used AI, and decided that silver envelopes with surprise coupons to give her throughout the weekend would: at best – help her feel better and at least – make her feel like we’d really tried!

I found some free printable fill-in-the-blank grad coupons, ordered silver envelopes, and tasked myself and the men folk for ideas. Some of her coupons were: a beverage of your choice at Starbucks when we make a pit stop, you choose the movie/book/music for the drive (there & back), go out for ice cream as soon as the camp is set up, you choose the evening activity after dinner (both nights), go out for donuts for breakfast, go out for ice cream again, and visit the gift shop and choose a souvenir.

I snagged a few extra gifts from the thrift store, Walmart, and Amazon to surprise her with. I found some sparkly gift bags for $1 each to add to the tablescape and I ordered a blue gingham tablecloth (I’ve been eyeing this anyways and thought it was a good time to go ahead and get it!) to pair with the silver sparkly accents. I didn’t have much time to prep and I simply hoped this combo would work out okay. I guess I was feeling very Elsa from “Frozen” and “Do the Magic! Do the Magic!” kept running through my brain so silver and baby blue were just in my head. I could’ve used some magical superpowers, not to make ice and snow but to amp up our party plans instantaneously!

We had already purchased G-R-A-D dishes for my oldest son’s 8th grade graduation 2 years ago, and we filled them with jelly beans again. Now, it’s a tradition!

We thought up a new tradition for this silly little ducky I snagged at Dollar Tree. We kept him handy all weekend to take funny photos wherever/whenever the mood struck.

I splurged on some new inflatable lake toys. The tanks had water guns attached that drew water from the lake so they never needed to be refilled.

We ended up having a marvelous weekend. The campsite was awesome with plenty of trees for setting up hammocks, nice shade, and well-maintained. The weather was nearly perfect just a little on the cooler side, the water really wasn’t that cold (I even swam in the lake). We got a great day use spot with a picnic table right on the shoreline and had a wonderful time playing in the water. , and there were these lovely delicate lavender colored wildflowers in bloom (pictured above).
