We do less formal schoolwork in the summer, but complete and total freedom without any structure isn’t good for anyone. Here’s what we’re looking forward to digging into this summer… although, we usually don’t actually do all the stuff I have planned…
🎨 Art: Simply Charlotte Mason – Monet and Hakusai (after we finish up Rafael)
Science: The Good and the Beautiful: Simple Machines
Logic: The Fallacy Detective
🧑🍳 Cooking/Baking: Raddish kits & Spice Club at the library
History = 🇺🇸 USA 250! I’m planning several arts/crafts projects & I got this freebie from Masterbooks
To Be Read-Aloud (TBRA?) with movies to watch after reading the books: “Pollyanna”, “The Boys in the Boat: young readers adaptation”, and “Greyfriars Bobby”
TBRA with a live play to go see after reading the book: “The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood” by Howard Pyle

My youngest son requested a summer incentive program so I created this chart of jobs/points/prizes

My younger two have a 2-day archery camp (that got dropped because we just have too much on our calendar) and a 2-day acting camp to attend. And they’ll do some NV State Park Jr. Ranger badges for the NV State Parks we visit too.

My oldest has his first, real, paying part-time job. I’m thinking of having my tween/teens all take an online CPR & First Aid Course. We have at least one glamping trip planned each month for June, July, & August. Of course, I have a few fun field trips planned too. The family schedule looks full to bursting!
I’ll be reading books, thrifting, and supporting small local businesses to curate my own DIY Summer Homeschool “Conference” similar to the one I did last year. Plus, we hosted a Summer Kick-Off Fiesta for some of our friends and neighbors. We’ve got lots of fun stuff to share in the coming summer months.
☀️ We hope you have a great summer!

I love how intentional this is! You have some fun things ahead! We have a few trips and read alouds going but remodeling and the wedding takes precedence this summer! 😅♥️

I thought summer was “down time”. 🙂 You always impress me. I read the junior version of “Boys in the Boat”. Great book. My daughter recommended that version because the adult version is really long! Hope you have a wonderful summer!

Ha! That’s great to hear – the regular adult version is really long!
I hope you have a great summer too! ☀️

You have wonderful plans. And no problem if you don’t get to all of them. I read Boys in the Boat (adult version) and enjoyed it.

It is long, you are right. I started it and then set it aside. A few months later I picked it up again and read the whole thing. 🙂
