Summer Kick-Off Fiesta 2026

Last year, we hosted a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. We decided to host our 2nd annual Fiesta this year. I’d saved a lot of the decor and we found a few “new” goodies Goodwill Thrifting. We aren’t doing individual birthday parties this year, so we were all excited to prep and plan a shindig for some of our neighbors and friends.

We were also celebrating finally having burned the enormous pile of yard waste that we inherited when we bought this house. This gargantuan project was finally completed thanks to our awesome neighbors who lent us the use of their mini tractor. Without that, it is highly likely that there would still be a gigantic pile of yard trash in the middle of our back property. Inviting them over for dinner was the least we could do.

Here are some of the elements of our party…

Menu: double-decker tacos, ground beef street tacos, chicken tacos from Costco, salsa, guacamole, chips, Mexican chocolate cupcakes, and lots of sodas

I found a twelve flavor 12-pack of Jarritos Mexican sodas at Grocery Outlet (discount food store) – perfect 🤩

B and K made a piñata with a balloon and papier-mâché. Last year they made a chicken shaped piñata, this year they made a cat.

We set up a photo op backdrop and we had 3 large sombreros, several mini sombrero fascinators, and an extra table runner to use as a makeshift poncho for taking fun family photo souvenirs.

tween/teens are getting taller… harder to arrange a family photo these days…
…here’s my outfit & my neighbor’s cute outfit too!

Now friends, if you have ever hosted a dinner party for 20 people you know that it is a bit of work. These types of things don’t just magically happen when you snap your fingers. I was so busy prepping for the party and then hosting the party I totally forgot to take pictures of the party. This was very disappointing because my table settings were very cute. And this is how much I love you… I set my table up again just so I could photograph it and show it to you!

my mom made the table runner
my daughter made Mexican chocolate cupcakes – again, I totally forgot to take a photo of the cupcake tower

One of the highlights of our fiesta was a couples corn hole tournament. Again, my apologies, I didn’t take any photos. But, it was super fun!

🌵 Until next time – adios amigos!
