Multnomah Falls – Columbia River Gorge, Oregon

After a behind the scenes tour of The Bible Project we headed off to see 2 popular waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. First on our itinerary was Multnomah Falls, the 2nd highest year-round waterfall in the United States. This stop was “unique to the area” and “outdoors” on our itinerary.

We were careful about being safe near the falls, and we like to teach proper hiking techniques and etiquette in general.

Multnomah Falls is very very popular and it was pretty difficult to find parking. We had to wait in line until someone left and we could grab their spot. I can see why taking a tour van/bus to see the falls would be advantageous so you wouldn’t have to worry about finding a parking spot.

We hiked a total of 2.4 miles to the top of the falls and back again. It was a difficult hike of 11 steep switchbacks.

Once we made it to the top viewing platform, I changed my mind and decided not to peer over the edge of the 620 ft drop. I think my husband took a photo on our 2nd visit to this spot, so stay tuned for that in an upcoming post.
