I did not come up with this adorable idea. Our friends, the North family, from North Carolina made this for the Five in a Row ornament swap in 2016.
I made a very similar ornament for a friend of mine. First, collect 4 corks per ornament. My next-door neighbor just happened to bring over a giant Ziploc bag of corks for us to craft with the other day. She is obviously, a former homeschool mama. A current homeschool mama would’ve kept the corks for her own household. And if you’re not homeschooling you might not be aware of the high value of corks! They are a great craft item that you can’t buy in bulk at The Dollar Tree or Walmart like popsicle sticks. The plastic corks don’t work as well as the real corks do. I used tacky glue to stick them together and added a green ribbon for hanging the ornaments between the top 2 corks.
I found white paper flowers with metal stems in the scrapbooking section at Michael’s. I twisted 3 flowers together with 2 on top and one underneath. I liked the daisy that was in the original ornament but I could find any daisies that were small enough.
I hot-glued a mini bouquet of white flowers and a card stock print-out of Ferdinand to the cork base with one big globe of hot glue.
A big “Thank You” to the North family for the great idea for this ornament!
Another big “Thank You to YM, our next-door neighbor, for the giant bag of corks!

How cute! I homeschool, but I am just getting started. I guess I have yet to learn the value of corks 😉.
