This was one of those “one thing after another” camping trips.
The propane regulator was leaking as we were loading the trailer. We stopped at Ace Hardware on the way to buy replacement parts and my hubs spent an hour fixing it in the parking lot. The back-in site was kinda hairy and it took some major maneuvering to get in. We discovered that the fan over the top bunk was busted when we got there. We were too early in the season and there were millions of mosquitos. I forgot to pack “the good” bug spray. The two person kayak popped just as we were about to launch it. We sent the children off to Treasure Island alone. Once they were out of sight, we realized we’d accidentally sent them off with the truck keys in the backpack with the water bottles and snacks. The way things were going, I was sure they’d accidentally drop the keys in the lake. We rented a canoe. Canoes are harder to maneuver than kayaks. I forgot to apply sunscreen on myself and ended up with lobster-red shoulders. We ran out of s’mores supplies the first night and had to buy extra at the camp store at ridiculous prices. The dump station charged an extra $19. 🤦🏻♀️ #camping
But…
…the lake was gorgeous!

…the hammocks were So relaxing!

…the wildflowers were in bloom!

…we read this really cute book aloud!

…and most importantly, we practiced being flexible, creative, and resilient, we didn’t cancel the trip, and the children/teen had a great time!

We hope your next adventure is full of wonder! 💚 heavenstobetty
And you modeled for your kids how to handle adversity. Good job, and I’m glad things turned out okay. Better luck on the next camping trip.

Your photos are stunning! I want to go there!!! It sounds like you had a lot of rough things happening but good for you and your family to stick with it and make it work. The beauty surrounding you…maybe made it worth it.

Thanks friend! It was very beautiful. The mosquitos were very annoying though.

Yes, mosquitos aren’t fun at all!

Ugh! I hope the next trip has less excitement. I’ve decided that any marriage that can survive backing the camper into a site is a strong one.

Ha ha! 🤣
Backing in a trailer should be in the wedding vows!
