The Idaho Falls public library just started their winter reading challenge. It goes from 11/27/23 to 2/29/24. We don’t live near Idaho Falls anymore, but I just love their reading challenges!
The IFPL is giving away a book if you get a bingo, and a gift certificate to a local business and a soup mug for a blackout bingo card (for IFPL library cardholders only).
The family/kids winter reading challenge is to read together as a family (one adult + one child counts) for 55 days during the challenge (11/27/23 – 2/29/24) and the prize is a new family game (for IFPL library cardholders only).
With a couple of tweaks we’re going to do the challenge NV style!
Unless you live in Idaho Falls and have an IFPL library card, you’re on your own to supply yourself with prizes. But we hope you’ll join us wherever you are!
*”blind date with a book” is a fun program where librarians wrap up books in valentine themed wrapping paper and you check one out without knowing what it will be. I plan on doing a version for my kiddos with books from our home library or thrift store finds in February.
*I think “BCIB” stands for “book club in a bag”, but I’m not 100% sure.
Here’s a link to Scholastic’s Printable Winter Reading Challenge if you’re interested in checking it out!
Looks like fun! Enjoy the books!

I’m excited about it. I love a good attainable challenge, even if I do have to buy my own prizes. 😁

What a fun challenge!! If you buy your own prizes, you can get what you want instead…although it does take out the fun surprise factor.

I don’t mind getting my own prizes. I like the motivation of the challenge and the ideas for prizes. I can find a new game, soup mugs, and we can go out for a treat at a local bakery. 😊

I get what you mean! It’s always fun to see what prizes are given out. I wonder where they get the clever prize ideas.

I know! I want to know where and how they get their prize ideas. The challenges are creative too. They must have brainstorming sessions with lots of coffee! lol
