We couldn’t pass up an opportunity to visit the Empire Mine State Historic Park in Grass Valley, California. coincidentally, it tied perfectly to our current audiobook, Brighty of the Grand Canyon by Marguerite Henry. We hope you enjoy our photos.










One of the best parts of the park was the blacksmith shop. There were 3 volunteers working and telling us everything about the craft of blacksmithing. I put my phone away to listen and didn’t remember to take any photos. The kiddos feet were black with soot from just being next to the coal & koch.

If you ever find yourself near Grass Valley, CA this place is definitely worth a stop!
