This feature photo of a pair of Trumpeter swan was taken by my husband. They were the highlight of our trip to Harriman State Park.
A spur-of-the-moment, Sabbath excursion (last weekend) to get some forest bathing in God’s great outdoors took us to Harriman State Park. Our second hike was the mostly flat, 1.5 mile Ranch Loop Trail.
The Idaho State Parks accept the Every Kid Outdoors 4th grader pass but we also had a free Idaho State Park pass that the kiddos had earned from the library’s summer reading program and my youngest wanted to use “his”.

We also saw the nose of a river otter, a squadron of pelican, and an osprey but none of them posed well for photos.
We hope you are able to enjoy the great outdoors near you sometime soon!

Beautiful pictures! We saw a lot of fences like your photo of the long fence on our recent travels. Our Missouri state parks are free. I guess Idaho’s state parks are not free. We like flat hikes with gorgeous scenery! Thanks for your post!

Thanks Betty!
This trip was free for us anyway! 😊
A yearly pass to Idaho state parks is a reasonable $10. Not too bad.

No, $10 is not too bad at all! I like for young families to have affordable activities they can do as a family.

Nice pictures! The fuzzy caterpillar is fuzzy indeed.

My daughter was not a fan of the caterpillars! She was afraid of stepping on them! 🤪

Ellis would be the same…hopping around, screaming at the fuzzy creatures. I’d want to put them in a jar and make them pets.
