In July, my mom chose “Welcome Block” on page 70 and we agreed to make it USA 250 🇺🇸 themed. Unfortunately, I didn’t get around to making it until 8/30/26. Better late than never! I used the coin pocket from my ruined shorts as the center piece. I must’ve had to rip out and redo a dozen seams on this block. I couldn’t get it figured out – luckily nothing was cut to be unusable, I just had to rip apart something every time I turned around, reconfigure, and re-sew the seams.

Next, my daughter chose “Kitchen Window Block” on page 41 for us to make for August. I made this one on 8/30/26 too. I had taken my mom to 3 different quilt stores for her birthday and I got a few fat quarters and remnants on sale. In the block below, the bees, the pears, and the rooster scene were all new fabrics.

My mom thought it was her turn to choose the block for September and I thought it was my turn to choose the next block. No matter because we both chose “Canning Season Block” on page 17 for September. I “canned” strawberry jam, sunflower seed butter, pears, salsa, honey, and a mixed berry jam with strawberries, cherries, and blueberries.

My mom chose “Corn and Tomatoes Block” on page 21 for October 2026.
These are all so charming. I love the colors and the fact that you are doing it together. 8/30 must have been a quiet day for you!
