Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

Book #11 for 2026

This was my sister’s book recommendation for my 50 📚 by 50 🎂 challenge. She’s a huge Harry Potter fan. I’m not a huge Harry Potter fan, but who am I to argue with the rest of the world? Anyways, I should’ve known if I asked her for a book recommendation, she’d recommend Harry Potter. If any of you have sisters you may understand this special relationship and uncanny ability to annoy one another! 💕 lol

I considered skipping her recommendation but opted to be a good sport and read something I wouldn’t normally choose instead.

I borrowed this one on Libby (the library’s free audiobook app) and I also found an inexpensive paperback copy at a thrift store so I read some of it and listened to some of it.

Here are some fun quotes regarding Mrs. Weasley, she is the character that I most identify with.

“Mrs. Weasley was marching across the yard, scattering chickens, and for a short, plump, kind-faced woman it was remarkable how much she looked like a saber-toothed tiger.” page 32

“Life at the Burrow was as different as possible from life on Privet Drive. The Dursley‘s liked everything neat and ordered; the Weasley‘s house burst with the strange and unexpected.” page 42

And here’s a favorite passage about Hermione.

“Harry – I think I’ve just understood something! I’ve got to go to the library!” And she sprinted away, up the stairs… “But why’s she got to go to the library?” “Because that’s what Hermione does,” said Ron, shrugging. “When in doubt, go to the library” page 255
