Favorite Things – Gearing Up For Summer 2026

🎶 When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I’m feeling sad, I simply remember my favorite things, and I don’t feel so bad! 🎶

We don’t live in a neighborhood that is frequented by ice cream trucks. But my freezer is stocked with tasty summer treats!

Cheap summer movies at Galaxy Theatres this year include 4 titles based on books: Paddington, How to Train Your Dragon, The Wild Robot, and Wonder! Could I be any happier?
Last summer, I made bracelets every time we went camping and kept adding them to my wrist stack. It was fun, so I’m doing it again!

We recently finished this audiobook on Libby (the Library’s free audiobook app) and it was really good – it might be the best book we read this year!

☀️We hope you have a great summer!

  1. Just reading this post made me feel happy! I like that camping bracelet idea! And I love how you updated that picture frame. Right up my alley! What made you like the “Crossover” book so much? And as an aside, later in the month, we are taking a short trip to Vermont to the von Trapp Family Lodge and Resort. So, your opening line really grabbed my attention!

    1. Thank you Betty!

“The Crossover” is very different than any other book we’ve read/listened to. It’s written in a sort of hip hop rhythm poetic form. The characters were appropriately flawed and heroic as to make them seem real. It was funny and heartfelt and spoke to universal human truths as told through the eyes of a teen boy coming of age.

Oooo! I’m jelly! Have fun visiting the Von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort! That’s right up my alley!

  2. Favorite Things brings to my mind the wonderful movie called, The Sound of Music. I have enjoyed reading Maria’s books, as well. The bracelet is such a great idea! Show us more of the ones you have made, please.
