Denver, CO – Art Museum, Mint, and State Capitol

My husband had a work conference and the kiddos and I were able to tag along and sightsee while he worked.

We spent the first day at the Denver Art Museum, a tour at the Denver Mint, and a quick photo op at the State Capitol. Our hotel had a continental breakfast and after that we took an Uber to the art museum.

The art museum was amazing! We can’t recommend it highly enough! Be sure to check out the collection of Native American art. We ran out of time and definitely could’ve spent a whole day here.

There are no cameras allowed on the tour of the Denver Mint. The tour is free but you must make reservations and we booked our tour about 30 days ahead of time. We did the 1:30 tour and none of the machines were working as it was between shifts and all the employees were in meetings. We would recommend booking a tour at anytime except 1:30. Also, there are no bags, backpacks or purses allowed in the mint and there are no storage lockers. However, there are storage lockers at the art museum which is only a few blocks away.

There’s a step on the west side of the capitol that is marked as exactly one mile above sea level.

We ended the day at the art museum gift shop. Then we walked a couple of blocks and got some mediocre tacos for dinner. Then we took an Uber back to the hotel.
