The Nevada State Parks department gives a free fifth grade adventure pass. Our youngest is in 5th grade this year and the pass is valid from August through August. Let’s see how many parks we can visit this year!
Sand Harbor
We made reservations for a day use parking spot on 9/14/24. It was $15. The 5th grade pass doesn’t work for the online reservation system. We had made an attempt to visit this park last year and the parking lot was full. Unless you live very close, I think it’s worth it to get the reservation to ensure you get a parking spot!

We had a great time at Sand Harbor. Tahoe is So Beautiful!
Fort Churchill
We joined a group for a Ranger-led First Hike 1/1/25.

We went back again with our homeschool co-op for another Ranger-led hike in April.

Lahontan Reservoir
We were invited to a BYO picnic lunch birthday party for a friend turning 12 in April. Happy Birthday MJ!

Buckland Station
We tried our luck gold panning but didn’t quite strike it rich this season!
That’s the end of our 5th grade free passes to Nevada State Parks. We’ll have to check out a pass from the library, buy a season pass, or pay as we go next time!
Fantastic

I think that is neat that your state gives the passes out to 5th graders. How many state parks are there? Looks like you are getting some checked off and they are beautiful.

I think it’s neat too! CA does one for 4th graders for their state parks. National parks have a 4th grade pass too. Good times outside! 🌲 🥾 🗺️ ☀️ ☁️ ❤️
