Snowshoeing & Feeding Mountain Chickadee – Tahoe National Forest

Feature photo of me and the mountain chickadee by my husband.

We were thrilled with the opportunity to try a new outdoor sport and had a blast snowshoeing in the woods. The experience exceeded all our expectations when the naturalists passed out unsalted black sunflower seeds for us to feed the mountain chickadees. The adorable little birds landed right on our bare hands and carefully plucked up the seeds one by one. Amazing! It was like a scene out of an old Disney Princess movie.

Can’t go in the snowy woods without reciting this poem by Robert Frost

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening

We hope you have an opportunity to enjoy nature near you sometime soon! ❄️

  1. I love this so much! The pictures are priceless and fun! I’ve never snowshoed; but have wanted to! I’ve been in nature a bitβ€”I’m jealous of where you live, though! I’ll be DRIVING myself to my youngest son and his family’s house tomorrow near K.C. Snow may be there. This is the first LONG drive I’ve done myself since treatments began. I’m excited! I’ll remember these precious snow pics! The one of you feeding the chickadee is amazing! How wonderful! 🩡 ❄️
