Brick Convention

A few months ago, we heard about a LEGO Brick Convention and decided to go check it out last weekend. We have some big LEGO fans in our house!

I like this cool Brick Bible series by Brendan Powell Smith.

found all these at a thrift store – so exciting!

Based on the website description for the convention, we were expecting something a bit different than what we found. It was smaller than expected and was mostly vendors selling used/vintage LEGO and specialty made compatible parts.

There were some cool sculptures to see and the kiddos each made a mini fig with 2 accessories for $5 each (a pretty good deal).

Some of our favorite builds were Super Mario Brothers characters. Because Nintendo has legal rights to the names, the LEGO artists had to get a little creative.

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris

Overall, we felt like it really wasn’t advertised very accurately and was smaller than what we anticipated. But, we had a nice time admiring the LEGO creations, building with white bricks, and creating new mini figs too!

Until next time, we hope this post inspires you to create something with LEGO!

    1. Yes! I have two that want to build the model and never take it apart and one that will build things take them apart and build something new. When I was a kid, we only had a few sets and we always built things and then took them apart so there wasn’t anything to collect dust and they all fit in a small bin.

      1. I have 2 kiddos who want to build sets but never want to take them apart. Once it’s done, they don’t even look at it and when I put it away in a cubby hole or a drawer, then they notice. Oh my, if a piece breaks off, then they give me the stink eye. What the heck?! It still doesn’t stop me from storing them away. lol
