It was nineteen eighty somethin’
In the world that I grew up in
Skatin’ rinks and black Trans Am’s
Big hair and parachute pants
Lookin’ back now I can see me
And oh man did I look cheesy
But I wouldn’t trade those days for nothin’
Nineteen eighty somethin’
excerpt from the song, 19 Somethin’ by Mark Willis
This first photo of the Beachfront Park bear was taken in 1980-something. I’m guessing 1988 or 1989. We visited Crescent City often when I was growing up, so I can’t be sure of the exact date. The original photo was destroyed in the Camp Fire (2018) but luckily we had a digital copy in “the cloud” (whatever that is).

On the day I wanted to re-create the photo shoot, my husband just happened to be wearing a plaid shirt and it was perfect.

The kiddos absolutely love playing at the beach and we couldn’t resist making some castles, watching some brave cold-water surfers and jumping in the waves at South Beach.

Nothin’ beats the beach, even if it’s really really cold!

I would pick watching the sunset followed by taking a long walk! Great recreation of the picture! The kids look like they are having so much fun! Enjoy your day!

Watching the sunset and listening to the sounds of the waves. I also like taking walks along the beach.
