Curt Gowdy State Park – Wyoming

Wyoming is high prairie with rolling hills of tall grass that ripple in the wind. It looks like something from a Laura Ingalls Wilder Book. We have actually seen antelope playing in Wyoming but I didn’t get a photo yet… maybe we will see more next week…

Here are a couple of photos from along Happy Jack Road, to give you a little peek at some of the Wyoming landscape.

There are lots of windmills, because this is one of the windiest areas in North America.

My parents drove through Wyoming on the way to visit my sister in Colorado. We went kayaking at Curt Gowdy State Park. We had planned on renting 3 double kayaks for our group of 4 adults and three kids. When we showed up at the rental place, they only had 2 double kayaks left. We rented them right away, and then started trying to figure out how we could all fit…

As it turns out, it’s possible to fit 2 adults and a 9-year-Old in one double kayak and 2 adults and 2 smaller kiddos in another.

Here’s our attempted selfie, it’s not great but you get the idea… we piled 4 people into a 2-person boat!

The kiddos snagged a chance to explore a bit on their own. How’d they learn to paddle like that? They’re naturals!

We saw some Canada Geese on their way south for the winter.

The people in Wyoming have been so nice. I’d stereotype Wyoming as having the nicest people in all the states we’ve visited so far! Even the entrance sign had an added banner thanking us for visiting. So polite!
