Hike #2 for 2026
We hiked and sledded for about 2 hours. My husband and I guess we went somewhere between 1/2 – 1 mile. Let’s call it at 3/4 of a mile? 🤷🏻♀️ It was hard to tell because we were climbing through deep (3 feet) wet snow (Sierra cement) with steep elevation gain at 7,000 ft above sea level.

Also, just so you know – everyone leveled up in snow boots; so my daughter was wearing my snow boots. Since she was wearing mine, I wore some of my husband’s waterproof mid-top boots (not snow boots) two sizes too big for me! 😂 #momlife
We may come hike here again in the spring/summer once the snow melts.
❄️ We hope you were able to enjoy some snow this winter!
What fun Betty

Looks like another great hike! Did they decide why the sled broke and plan to rebuild or make another one? 🙂

One of the 2×4’s split where they had screwed it together. This week was probably the last snow storm of the season. Maybe next year… or maybe they’ll turn it into a raft for the lake…?

What an adventure filled day that must have been. Trekking through deep snow at that elevation is no joke, and it makes that three quarter mile feel like a full blown expedition. The kids testing their homemade sled made me smile, even if it only survived a few runs. The boot shuffle is such a classic parent moment too, everyone just making it work so the fun can happen. It sounds like a beautiful mix of challenge, laughter, and winter magic. I love the idea of returning in spring or summer to see the same trail in a whole new way.
