Flat Stanley Project / Flat Cat Project

I read about The Flat Stanley Project online and thought it would make a fun summer learning project.

Flat Stanley Project

Of course, I put my own spin on it. In the spirit of the chain letters I received in the 80s and 90s, we sent this letter to 15 friends and family.

Dear friend/family member,

This summer, we’re participating in our own version of the Flat Stanley Project. You can read all about the Flat Stanley Project by visiting http://www.flatstanleyproject.com.

Instead of Flat Stanley, we’re sending flat versions of our cats, Luke and Leia. They are indoor house cats and they don’t get out much. They are looking forward to a summer vacation adventure with you! Here’s how to participate.

1. Take them somewhere and do something with them.

2. Take a photo or two.

3. Write about your adventure and tell us about it. You can use snail mail… or email… or text my cell…

Feel free to be as creative as you’d like – draw a picture of what you did, include a photo or postcard, write a poem, make a map, anything you want. You needn’t take them far, your own backyard or around the block will do. We can hardly wait to see where they get to go this summer!

If you’d like, we’d be delighted to reciprocate a summer vacation adventure for any flat character friend you want to send to us!

We hope you have a great summer!

Love, our family

I printed the letters on fun tie-dye stationary. I used photos that I had taken with my iPhone and made “stickers” with the photo editing app that came with it. Then I printed the cats on white card stock, laminated them, and cut them out.

We mailed these stuffed envelopes to 15 recipients in 9 different states. We’ll see how much participation we get and report our results at the end of the summer.

Have a great summer! 💛 heavenstobetty
