Gopher snakes mimic rattlesnakes as a defense mechanism. My husband had accidentally frightened this one by opening the back sliding door quite suddenly and it was in full fight mode! Of course, the snake accidentally frightened my husband at the same time! It took a little bit to observe and recognize that it was a gopher snake. We kept him as a “pet” who possibly still lives somewhere in our yard to eat rodents. 😁
Oh icky! I totally missed this blog for some reason and I don’t know why. But I did read of the Easter decor on a previous blog. Idk, but maybe, given I get the hee-bee gee-bees at the sight of snakes I was probably mysteriously not supposed to see this one. he he

It’s a “good” snake – they eat rattlesnakes and rodents. They are not venomous to humans. But… a snake nonetheless. 🤷🏻♀️
