Personalized Book List Gift Idea

To celebrate a friend’s birthday (a young teenager) we bought her books that start with the letters in her name and a tote bag. I didn’t count the word “the” in book titles for this project. She’s an avid reader so hopefully, she hasn’t read a few of the books we got her! Just in case, I ordered them on Amazon and included the gift receipts.

K = “Kidnapped” by Robert Louis Stevenson

R = “Railway Children, The“ Edith Nesbit

I = “Indian in the Cupboard, The” by Lynne Reid Banks

S = “Swallows and Amazons” by Arthur Ransome

T = “Treasure Island“ by Robert Louis Stevenson

E = “Esperanza Rising” by Pam Munoz Ryan

N = “Number the Stars” by Lois Lowry

I made a quick bookmark to sort of explain the gift since I wasn’t sure if she’d “get it” without a little explanation. I hope she likes her personalized book selections!

  1. Now that is a great idea!! I hope I can use it myself one day. What a pretty bad to put the books in, too. She will without a doubt use that — and I can just imagine the joy, in an “avid reader,” to receive so many books in one gift ❤

  2. What a great idea! And I’d bet she loved your gift. Very thoughtful. When my twin boys were little, I read “Indian in the Cupboard” out loud every night at bedtime. They loved it, and they’d often plead, “One more chapter, just one more, pleeaase!”

  3. I think that is a wonderful gift! Books and a fun way to do it with her name. You are so creative. I am sure she will treasure the books and the thoughts you put into the gift for years to come. Including the gift receipt is a good idea, as well.
