Left to right: Checkers (black & white), Freckles (white with black /gray spots), Cluck-u-lo-stratus aka Clucky (white), and Aspen (tan). Aspen is the leader and Freckles is the least smart.

    1. Indeed, poor Freckles! I named her after a character on the TV show “Lost”. The poor hen once got lost and was in terrible distress because she’d gotten herself on top of the nesting box and couldn’t see any of her sisters who were directly below her on the ground. She was squawking loudly and flapping about making their distress call until we put her on the ground with the others. 😂

      As for the blog title, we’re silly like that. I say “heavens to betty” when I’m exasperated! We modified the original “heavens to Betsy” because my mom’s name is Betty! 😂
