Tea and Poetry – New Pretty Things

After publishing Wednesday Tea and Poetry, I was gifted some new pretty things for our tradition. I think we all need more quiet moments of relaxation. I’m touched by the thoughtfulness of those who wanted to give us nice things to add to our tea and poetry experience.

Esther from singlikewildflowers.com sent us her family’s favorite children’s anthology of poetry. We’ve read up to page 43 and we are really enjoying this collection immensely. It’s such a great book and I don’t know if I would’ve ever found it on my own.

My MIL from Arizona gave us her mother’s antique teacups and saucers. This is a special gift because we don’t have many special old things. We lost most of our family heirlooms in the Camp Fire (2018). This was compounded by my parents losing their home in the same fire. Almost all of the heirlooms on my side of the family are gone, which makes old special things and heirlooms even more special.

Then it was my birthday, and my parents bought me some modern patterned teacups and saucers. My in-laws gave me an Amazon gift card and I bought myself a new cookbook! More tea party goodies!

I’m trying not to put too much value on storing up treasures on earth, but it’s nice to have quality things that are beautiful to look at and spark joy!

🫖 We hope you can enjoy a relaxing cup of tea or a few fun poems with someone you love sometime soon!

  1. Nice antique tea cups and saucers.

Since I like blue a lot, my favorite tea cup is the one with blue flowers on it. They are all unique and fun though.

Enjoy your tea cups and new books.

    1. Thank you! I’ve been reading a poem or two out of an anthology almost every night aloud to my children. Wednesdays I have them write a poem of their own during homeschool. Yesterday we were notified that my two oldest both won first prize in a poetry contest in their respective age categories. So I guess reading all that poetry paid off! The prize is a new telescope!
I’ve been enjoying your month of poetry! You are a very gifted poet!

And I’m so glad you guys are enjoying the poetry book. I enjoy that book too, but the crazy thing with that book is it always gets lost somewhere in the house.
Beautiful tea cups and saucers…you have great taste.
