The feature photo is the enclosed magic carpet lift for the bunny hill. My 2 younger kiddos are at the top of the hill (really tiny). They did 5 runs on the bunny slope and 5 green circle runs off of a chairlift.
Iām super excited that my whole family was able to take their first real ski lessons! I grew up skiing/snowboarding with my family and friends and I have such fond memories associated with the sport.

My husband and I went snowboarding together for our first date and for our honeymoon!

For Christmas this year, we gave the children āski lessonsā as an experience gift. I found cute little skiing penguin ornaments that I wrapped up under the tree for them to open. Going skiing was something I really wanted to do for my oldest sonās 8th grade year. Iām so grateful we were able to accomplish this experience.
I pre-purchased tickets to take advantage of a mid-week homeschool deal for my under 12 kiddos and saved a few dollars. The day of our pre-purchased, pre-scheduled lesson/lift ticket/equipment packages most of the lifts were closed due to extreme wind and I had gotten food poisoning earlier in the week. Both of these are not ideal. However, for our situation, it couldnāt have worked out more nicely. I was at least well enough to tag along and help out with gear. They gave me a full refund for my lift ticket and equipment rental. And there were only a small handful of other skiers/snowboarders on the mountain.
B (age 9) and K (age 11) were in a level 2 kids lesson and S (age 13) went with my husband to the adult beginner 2 lesson. My husband is self-taught and great at snowboarding but he has only been skiing a couple of times. My dad taught me how to ski and though Iām proficient at it, I felt extremely unqualified to teach the skill to anyone!

Due to the extreme wind causing lift closures and the lack of people there on the day we went, we basically got two private 2-hour lessons for mid-week group discount price! I was So stoked that I didnāt even mind hanging out in the lodge feeling unwell reading a new book. Plus, all three children learned how to get on, ride, and get off the chairlift. The chairlift is something that I really wanted someone else to teach them. The 2 younger kiddos werenāt guaranteed a chairlift ride, but we were all thrilled that their coach decided that they were ready for it.

Seeing how happy everyone was at the end of their lessons was icing on the cake! Iām hoping that Iāll be able to hit the slopes with everyone else next time!
Sounds like a great and fun day!
