Homeschool Thrift Haul – Like Christmas in July

We had quite a haul from our most recent shopping expedition to Goodwill. I really enjoyed finding all these homeschool goodies with my kiddos. Except for the complaints about how long I was taking to look through all the books. 🙄

Calvin and Hobbes, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, Boxcar Children #13: Snowbound Mystery
Ferdinand (hardcover), Samual Morse That’s Who: The Story of the Telegraph and Morse Code, McDuff Moves In, Be Careful LittleAntelope
Crafts: nice thick yarn for me and paint your own tiny tea set for K (age 10)
An employee recommended Sequence as a great family game and said she’d just counted all the pieces and this set is complete! The States and Capitals version reminded me that we should probably memorize all the states and capitals…
empty vessels for future houseplants…🤞
wooden clogs made in Holland – because I’ve always wondered what it would be like to walk in wooden clogs from Holland
11 picture books for a Christmas Book Advent that has become one of our favorite Holiday traditions (I tried to sneak these to the bottom of the pile in the cart)

We hope this post inspires you to go treasure hunting at your local thrift shop!

Happy homeschooling! 💚 heavenstobetty

    1. I have ours sitting on top of a bookshelf as decoration! Did you ever try them on and walk around in them? Ours are not very comfortable but then again more comfortable than I expected wooden shoes to be! 😂

      1. I never tried them on, and when we broke up the house I don’t know what happened to them. Maybe a sibling has them, or maybe we gave them away. I do wish I would have kept them. I wouldn’t expect wooden shoes to be very comfortable at all; however, I do remember having a pair of Dr. Scholl’s sandals which had a wooden bottom!

  1. You got some great finds!! I’m not so lucky like that when I go to our local Goodwill.
We’re trying to memorize the states and capitals too… well, that’s what I have in mind. Kids don’t know yet. Lol
We love Ferdinand, the peace loving bull.
