Vernal/Dinosaurland KOA – Vernal, Utah

We drove Dinosaur Diamond Scenic Byway from Moab, Ut (southern point) through Helper, UT (western point), to Vernal, UT (northern point).

This area of Utah and Colorado is famous for dinosaur discoveries! Of course, we visited Dinosaur 🦕 National Monument twice this week.

We stayed at our 2nd KOA so far, which had a pool, jump pad, and a fun playground. There was mini golf and pedal cars to rent, but we thought both were too pricey.

We did a zentangle art class at the library with our friends, The Rookie Roadsters. We met them back in March at Sam’s Family Spa – Desert Hot Springs, California. It was super-fun to meet up with them 4 months later in Vernal, Utah!

Zentangle is an art form that uses repetitive patterns to create images. Here are what the kiddos created during the class.

Here’s a book I’m adding to our back-to-school wishlist.

We spent the evenings playing in this grassy field together.

Happy trails until our paths cross again!

I was happy to be able to stock up on some essential household items and groceries at the super Walmart in Vernal. I was totally out of dish soap, razor blades and hairspray. I even replaced my hand-me-down make-up bag with this cute llama bag with tassels.

Llamas are so cute! K needed a couple new t’s, some of our t’s are lookin’ a little raggedy. More llama stuff for us.

I came down with a cold/flu on Wednesday so we missed the Pioneer Day parade. Pioneer Day is a state holiday every 7/24 in Utah. I was still feeling miserable on Thursday. Ugh. Remember to use hand sanitizer after being in a public place (even National Park Visitor Centers)! Poor B ended up with a double ear infection on Saturday. His ear infections are probably from the same virus. We are in such tight quarters, if one of us gets sick, everyone is going to get it in some form or another.

We had a few thundershowers in Vernal this week and I really enjoyed them. There’s nothing quite like that awesome fresh smell after it rains. Mmmm.

Today we are headed southeast on our final stretch of the Dinosaur Diamond Scenic Byway…

Thanks for following us and for keeping us in your prayers! Some of our specific prayer requests are:

  • Traveling safety
  • Wisdom in planning for the future
  • Peace and emotional healing
  • Good physical health
