My husband volunteered to help our small plant church with AV. This requires us homeschoolers (me and the kiddos) to get up and get ready much earlier than usual. Too early.
While my husband helped out, I took the kiddos out for breakfast. I’m currently “at capacity” in my volunteer commitments (local public library & homeschool co-op).

Then my mocha came in The Cutest Mug Ever!
I didn’t notice this last time, but each table has different salt and pepper shakers! I loved salt and pepper shakers! Our table today had guinea pig salt and pepper shakers! 😍🥰

It was so nice to sit with my kiddos and relax with some delish food that I didn’t have to cook or clean up. I realized that the kiddos and I spend a lot of time working on projects/schoolwork and working on getting things done, and not a lot of time just sitting and simply enjoying each other’s company. We need to do this more often! It was a perfect Sabbath date of rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. It only took about 30-45 min. and cost probably more money than it should’ve, but So Worth It!!! We live pretty far from town, so we don’t eat out at restaurants very often which helps me justify the cost. After breakfast, we joined the flock and enjoyed the church service together. We stayed afterwards to chat and help tidy up. It was a lovely day.
We hope you are able to enjoy a date of rest and relaxation with someone you love very soon!

I noticed the adorable salt and pepper shakers before I read the blog. They reminded me of the collection of salt and pepper shakers you had, back in the day.
What healthy delicious looking food you all were able to enjoy. Thanks for sharing the experience.

It was always so tough for me to say no to church volunteering. I also think because my mother was the pianist that they expected more from me and my family. I didn’t have it in me to tell them no so I got burnt out after years of that.
I’m so glad there was finally time for “mommy and me” time. It means so much in the long run.

It’s easy to get burnt out and it’s hard to say no. It’s not fun to disappoint people. But, I’ve found that I need to prioritize my mental health so I can homeschool. I’m super convicted about homeschooling. It’s my passion project, my ministry, and my top priority. 😁

One of the perks of attending 2 churches is no one knows which church you’re a member of and so…we get asked a lot less to take on full positions, and more often get the once in a while things like special music or children story which are easier to say yes and no to 🙂
Yay for some downtime with the kids! I completely hear you on the always being busy with the school and home and all the things!

It sounds like the perfect day and place for you to enjoy breakfast! You’ll remember the day for a long time, but likely won’t ever miss the money. Blessings to you and yours during this holiday season!

Good for you and your family to take some time to just relax. Such an important part of our lives. As we travel, I have seen a lot of cute salt and pepper shakers. Someone could have a lot of fun collecting them.
