I decided to take on pumpkin carving with the kiddos this year. As you know, it’s a big messy project. Big messy projects = lots of fun for kiddos! We have painted our pumpkins in the past, because it’s easier and the pumpkins last longer. The kiddos were super excited about carving them this year and we even bought pumpkin carving tools at the grocery store. We used a plastic tablecloth from the Dollar Tree as a disposable drop cloth.
K was trying to get the seeds and slimy, stringy pulp out of her pumpkin without actually touching it. lol
Here’s a great book for kids about carving pumpkins. The book uses pumpkin carving as a metaphor for God being able to change us for the better. God can take out our sins and let His light shine through us to bless those who see it.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
We let Ari carve her pumpkin this year too! She completely empathizes with K. She was not a fan of cleaning out her pumpkin.
